Location

A Margate causeway that cuts through the chalk cliff and snakes off in to the sea. It was originally created for farmers who in their tractors would collect seaweed to fertilise their fields. The sauna is situated 10m from the sea, convenient for a refreshing dip. The sauna is situated on a public beach so do expect passers by.

Sauna

It accommodates 6 people and has a small kitchenette on the back from which our coastal feasts are prepared and cooked. It uses locally coppiced sweet chestnut and birch in the sauna stove and infuse dousing water with foraged aromatics. Salt rubs and seaweed whisks are provided for you to stimulate your skin and nerve endings with, whilst ice-cold foraged herbal waters and aquavit tantalise your insides. There will also be a bookshelf full of sauna, coast & seaweed related books for you to browse whilst in between saunas.

Food

After your sauna, you’ll sit down to a delicious, seasonal meal that encapsulates the coast and its surroundings. They forage, source & prepare wild & locally bought ingredients into delicious dishes that convey the flavours of the coast. There’s also a solid oak wood-fired table to keep you warm during your meal. There is a central well that is heated with wood that radiates heat underneath, keeping your legs toasty throughout the season. The table also doubles up as a grill for dishes that feature on our menu.
