Thursday 9th March is National Social Prescribing Day!
Social prescribing enables GPs, nurses and other primary care professionals to refer people to a range of local, non-clinical services to support their health and wellbeing. It takes in account a much broader term of health and that our health is defined by environmental, economic and social factors. Social prescribing services can range from financial support to local swimming lines, and is a truly holistic approach to health. Services like this help to reduce number of inpatient admissions, A+E attendances and GP apppoinments required.
Here at the BSS we’re keen to get sauna into social prescribing as we know it has a huge number of benefits on the physical, mental and spiritual wellbeing of people. And it’s a really good tool for keeping people well!
